Craig Bradley is Writer in Residence at the Calderdale Youth Offending Team. As a result of his creative writing workshops with young people, the YOT have produced an anthology of new writing entitled Shepherd’s Pie Smells Different Now. Calderdale Youth Theatre adapted some pieces from the book into a 20-minute stage play on the theme of restorative justice. The play then toured schools and care homes in the Calderdale region.

In September 2005 a second book was published. Caught in a Story is another anthology of young people's writing.

A third book Writing the Wrongs was published in March 2006.

You can read some of the young people's work at the Calderdale Youth Offending Team website

**** STOP PRESS ****

The University Of Central Lancashire carried out a research project on my work as a writer within Calderdale Youth Offending Team. The report was extremely positive and will appear in several academic journals. Its good to hear that you are doing something right - even if your not sure what it is – and the report certainly adds some serious academic clout to using creative writing with young people. When they let me, I’ll post the report and you can have a look yourself.
